Of course it is possible. It is just a way for the magazine to make sure that
they do not infringe any copyrights, so they do need explicit approval that they
are allowed to do so.

The main point for me was to ask them to ship 1.4 instead of 1.2. Simply because
of being able to mention this to the magazine it is a good idea for them to ask
for approval.

Yes, looks like he has forgotten to CC him. I have written a mail myself with
the permission anyway, so it does not matter.
