Hello Listers,
Doing a search on the Net this morning for my ancestor's surname WICHGRAF
I got a link to this list re: messages in regard to the names of WIKGRAF
and WICHGRAF.
I found the messages of ROY, FRED, ANTJE and PETRA most interesting, as my
g.grandfather Julius WICHGRAF (c.1832-1890) emigrated from Prussia via
Hamburg to Melbourne, Australia in 1860. Both Julius and his father Leopold
WICHGRAF had been Officers in the Prussian Army.
My surname, WIGRAFT is a variant of WICHGRAF and so far as I know (from 20
years of research) our family is the only one in Australia of descendants
of WICHGRAF.
I would dearly love to be proven wrong :-)
Can any of you knowledgeable people be able to give me any further
information on any of the WICHGRAFs, as of yet I have not had much success
apart from what the normal search on the Net for WICHGRAF produces.
