The Development Professionals Section in UNICEF’s Division of Communication is 
looking for a dynamic, passionate and committed professional who wants to make 
a lasting difference for children. UNICEF seeks an experienced 
Analyst/Researcher for its flagship publications to be based in New York 
Headquarters. 

Under the supervision of the Senior Editor, the consultant will, among other 
things, assist in the commissioning of background papers and conduct research 
and for the publication; support the development of a peer review process for 
the publication, including both internal and external experts; provide in-depth 
literature reviews for assigned topics; analyse research findings for 
relevance, currency, comprehensiveness, applicability and credibility; analyse 
quantitative data; draft texts of research findings for the publication; 
prepare summaries, briefs, charts and tables, presentations and bibliographies; 
and assemble research materials to facilitate fact-checking and resolve 
fact-checking queries.

Your profile:
• Advanced university degree in the social sciences, international relations, 
communications or related fields.
• Five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work 
experience as a researcher on international development issues. A publications 
record is a plus.
• Experience in drafting and commissioning research papers and working with 
academic and institutional researchers.
• Exemplary research skills, both quantitative and qualitative.
• Excellent English writing and editing skills, with proven ability to 
translate research findings into clear advocacy text; knowledge of another UN 
language a plus.
• Advanced ability with MS Office applications, databases and statistical 
packages.
• Well organized and attentive to details.
• Ability to maintain a high level of productivity under deadline pressure.
• Flexibility to work long hours as needed. 
• Good team player.
• Interest in development and human rights issues essential, experience in 
developing countries a plus.

Level of Post: P-2
Duration:  one year
