Bravo lady Christine Munduru!!! We just need a paradigm shift-both men and
women of WestNile.

Dear all,
I appreciate all the work you are doing and encourage you to continue.
I concur with Wendy, but I think  it is not solely the problem of the ladies ,
or even the men that the women are inactive/passive but the patriachy status
which is adored too much especially by Westnilers, men and women inclusive. How
many of our brothers in this net regard and treat their wives the way they
would want to be treated?  If our brother treats his wife like a first class
citizen, we say he is "controlled" by this woman, may be even biwitched, a
common term used  which I dont subscribe to. Therefore he should treat her like
second class citizen and he, the first class that is when we say he is a man.
If a man has no regard for his wife, it is very unlikely that he will do the
same to any other woman. It is unfortunate that we ladies also promote this
alot and we feel we are second class citizens and any woman who stands up also
becomes an enemy to fellow women. This ideology has shut up women. In this
scenario tell me which
woman wants to stand up and oppose the wind, even if the lady has excellent
ideas, it doesnt matter. It must come from a man to be considered worthy. Some
of us have got names for doing this, which for me is an honor and it gives me
more energy. But most ladies choose to "remain feminine" and therefore passive,
to avoid risks of being labelled, let the men  "who know" take lead and women,
the "flock" which is exactly what makes our Westnile community happy. It needs
a deliberate effort  by both men and women to bring women to
leadership. Otherwise, we are comfortable in our back seats. I am sure even
if ladies were present at the time of formation of committees, nobody,
including the ladies, would have voted for a lady as committee head.  Perhaps
the ladies are just members as usual within the committees. Can we know the
membership of the committees?

Thanks

Munduru

Thanks Caleb,

However, what happened to the Ladies of Westnile? I don’t see any active
participation/role that they are taking to champion some of these committees?
I kind of feel our role is too passive.

When do these committees get formed? How do we who have just recently got
access to the [email protected] network get actively involved minus only
giving contributions on email etc.

Regards,

Wendy.

Ladies and Gentlemen, We are not dead but we are seriously doing work. We gave
ourselves time for each committee to accomplish its assignement and in due
course you will get a volcanic result. For avoidance of doubt we have the
following adhoc committees which are in advance stages of tackling its tasks.
The Public University in West Nile committee headed by Eng. Okuni Patrick, the
Father Ruffino Educational committee headed by Amb. Achema Harold, the Ngaka
Effort on Rural adult literacy program, a committee on documentation of our
affairs headed by myself. A West Nile Night committee headed by Afema Robert,
and the inauguration committee headed by Charles Dra-ecabo.
