I'm very glad to be a visitor and probably a member in this forum if my
objectives are met as I continue to read the precious articles everyday. As
I have been reading in the last two days, the arguements have reminded me of
one question that I answered in my P.L.E science exams in 1992 before the
UPE thing. It read " Why do black he-goats become more active than the white
ones during a sunny day? " The expected answer was that its because their
bodies absorb heat faster than the white ones as their black fur absorbs
heat more quickly than the white fur.
As I have followed the bitter debate which I hope is about to end if not
ended, I have wondered whether its the dry season in Uganda that is making
people more active and more aggresive in the debate than those of us in
winter or the blood of the abusive campaigns spilling into our forum.
It could be possible that some of those arguing are outside the dry season
and the campaigns. Even then we are more than animals to depend only on
instinct. Now, what is the problem that we should condemn each other using
the hardest terms possible?
As logic says, when we use argumentum ad baculum and argumentum ad hominem,
then we are just comitting fallacies. Its of no use for us to show our
differences in our arguments in a way that threatens to assasinate
characters but its more fruitful to attack ideas. This will make us have
transfortive thinking.
At the levels we have reached, we don't need to attack because one may be
attacking a husband and a father of children, a Doctor, Professor, an
Engineer etc.
Put yourself in the shoes of the attacked; don't you think you could
transfer this anger of the pain on your wife if you are married, who in turn
turns to beat the children and the children go to kick the goats which out
of the same anger step on the chicks and the chicks as they run for safety
blow off the poor lump and some pour the water in the cup into the soup and
as a family member tries to put on the lamp mistakenly turns the food upside
down and all end up sleeping hungry but the rats benefit from the food?
