*Deadline:* 31 August 2017 <https://www2.fundsforngos.org/tag/2017/> The Embassy <https://www2.fundsforngos.org/tag/embassy/> of Japan <https://www2.fundsforngos.org/tag/japan/> is seeking applications for its program entitled “Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects” to provide financial assistance to non-profit, development-oriented organizations <https://www2.fundsforngos.org/tag/organisations/> so as to implement community development projects, which directly benefit people at a grassroots level. The Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Uganda <https://www2.fundsforngos.org/tag/uganda/> initiated the GGP in 1992 with a project in Kampala. The number, sector, and region of the GGP have grown and expanded since then. *Funding <https://www2.fundsforngos.org/tag/funding/> Information* The amount of GGP grant, which bases itself on one-time, single-year financing, does not exceed 10,000,000 Japanese Yen (=approximately US$100,000 depending on exchange rates). *Focus Areas* - Education <https://www2.fundsforngos.org/category/education/> - Health <https://www2.fundsforngos.org/category/health/> - Water <https://www2.fundsforngos.org/category/water-hygiene-and-sanitation-wash/> and Sanitation - Agricultural Development *Types of Project* - *Construction of structures/facilities* dormitories, classrooms, science laboratories, maternity wards, infectious disease wards, agricultural produce stores, boreholes and etc. - *Provision of equipment and materials* ambulances, trucks, double decker beds, three-seater desks, processing machines for crops and medical equipment etc. - *Technical or educational training <https://www2.fundsforngos.org/tag/training/>/workshops* to complement the above two activities. *Eligibility Criteria* Non-profit organizations, CBOs (Community-based Organization), local / international NGOs <https://www2.fundsforngos.org/tag/ngos/>, medical institutions, Educational institutions, Local authorities /governments including sub-county level which has: - A minimum of two years experience in implementing development projects - Full-time paid staff - Track record in handling at least 50% of requested funds - Individuals and private companies are not eligible. *Eligible Country:* Uganda For more information, please download the pdf Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots <http://www.ug.emb-japan.go.jp/files/000208348.pdf>.
