For those who qualify and are interested in applying, please note the following based on experience advising and helping a student from Moyo who contacted me late last year when she received the scholarship opportunities that I forward to kobokonet and westnilenet. The student has been admitted to an MA program in the UK and now awaiting for the scholarship decision from the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission:
1. Make a separate application to the University offering the course you are interested in (See list below). Note that many of the universities charge application fees which could be very expensive and thus turn away great candidates. Certain universities such as Queen Mary University of London don’t charge application fees. 2. Make a separate application to the Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships using their online system EAS. This system is NOT VERY USER FRIENDLY. The Help desk staff who are supposed to help the candidates experiencing problems with the online application system can be very unfriendly and arrogant (since Brexit). 3. The University who admits you/offers you a place for your Master’s degree *ALSO* makes the recommendation to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. So your fate is really determined by the universityJ 4. You are competing with a lot of other highly qualified students across the Commonwealth so make sure you have someone read your personal statements. 5.
