You are right! Anonymous is not a banned outfit in India, essentially
the govt does not know who to ban, as they have not yet caught anyone!

However, their public facing activities in India has so far involved
cracking of government servers and IT infrastructure. That is clearly
a serious crime under both Indian as well as the international law.

It stands to common logic, that a traditional well-formed legal entity
can't carry out the activities of Anonymous and still expect not to be
shutdown by governments around the world. However, they did serious
oppose an attempt to trademark their logo and slogan in 2012 by a
french company
