Windows (DOS) wget 1.8.2. When I go to download anything it says: Resolving <site>.. done (instant) Connecting to <site> [IP]:80... connected (instant) <<<<<<<--- WAIT ABOUT 8-10sec each time this is run....... Continues downloading (any time to download now is "network traffic" so I don't care.
Does this for all sites. I am stumped. Have tried: --proxy off --waitretry=0 --wait=0 --cookies (both used and not used) Example: wget http://www.wget.org -O iwget.txt When I change my line to "wget -i wget.lst -O iwget.txt" and in the wget.lst I throw in THREE of the "wget.org" - the pause is STILL there but only for the first. Good. (Scenario #2) When I adjust the wget.lst again and make #1 wget.org #2 another site #3 wget.org and then try again - there is a pause for the FIRST but the other 2 have no pause. When I have a batch that runs "3" separata runs of wget, the pause is in between each. I am behind a linksys router/firewall and see some activity flashing on the router before the activity hits the net. But that router only happens early on.. (say first 1-3 sec) afterwhich there is activity on the net but again a pause up to 10 sec. I would have expected delays at site #2 of Scenario #2 -- but I don't. So I call up "Teleport" and drop the same HTML into the "get a specific file" and download.. INSTANT - ZERO PAUSES. The only thing I can think of is..... WGET is opening up some TCP under DOS and it takes that long to establish - Teleport is Windows only and instantly can connect since the connection is already made. May not be a wget problem - but if others have seen this and can offer some guidance (e.g. get product Y and do this then then run wget).. Any help would be appreciated. MULTIPLE URL question (what is the best place to ask for improvements?) I can build a list of URL's to grab but there only appears to be a single OUTPUT -O. Would be nice in the list to go "URL1" -O A.TXT "URL2" -O B.TXT belly Bellyman -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Access all of your messages and folders wherever you are
