Well, specifically, the wget you're running on Kurobox.

Nope.

Well, the first question to ask is, is the version of Wget you're
running on the Mac, also 1.10.2? If you didn't build the Mac one from
source, you might want to check that the provider (fink?) hasn't patched
it in ways that might be relevant to what you're seeing.

Beyond that, I can't offer much advice other than to run a profiler on
the Kurobox wget.
