Seeing as I shot my mouth off on how to set up multiple notifications at set times I decided I'd better create a few on my WUG to make sure I hadn't missed anything; turns out I had. For anyone else who wants to set these up too, here's how I did it. By the way, I did some of these with version 6.02 and some others after upgrading to version 7.0 and it was much easier, as Ipswitch advertised...
I ended up creating multiple Notifications to make this work the way I wanted. I added to the existing SMTP list ones for one hour and one day. In the subject field I replaced the %t variable with the text "for one hour" (without the quotes) for the one hour notification, and "for one day" for the one day notification. I deleted the %t variable in the message text. I built one of these for each of the SMTP instances that I wanted to send one hour and one day email notifications to. Yes, that means I basically tripled the size of my notification list. For those SMTP notifications that were grouped, I also created matching one hour and one day groups there, too. Yeah, it's not very pretty, perhaps Ipswitch can streamline this in a future version, hint, hint. Then I added the various alerts to the various devices, with trigger intervals set to multiples of the map's polling frequency to match the one hour and one day amounts. I made sure to enable the Auto Send UP Alert on only one so that only one up notification will occur. One router I monitor has conveniently obliged in the last day or so to exercise the one-hour notification a couple times... -- Rod C-- Enterprise Network Consulting Whitehorse, Yukon http://www.enc.yk.net/ http://www.geocities.com/rodcarty/ >> Half the world does not know how the other half lives, but is trying to find out. >-- Edgar Watson Howe << The preceding humor inserted by QuipSig http://www.enc.yk.net/quipsig/ 4,000 quip repertory!
