Have you opened the necessary ports on the firewall? Do you have auditing enabled on the servers? Try looking at the logs on both to see where the problem is occurring. It could be that the firewall is denying access, or the access is not being authenticated by the server.
Gareth -----Original Message----- From: Eric [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 19 December 2001 19:25 To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Looking for ideas to monitor services My current situation: I have a WUG server running on a Windows 2000 PC which is a member of my NT 4.0 domain. It is logged on with an account that holds administrative rights. I have loaded the NT Services plug-in on this box. I also have an NT 4.0 server running in a DMZ. This server is NOT a member of my domain. It runs separate from the rest of my network in it's own Workgroup. I do have TCP/IP access to the box through my firewall. Currently my WUG server monitors all of the servers in my domain, including NT services on some of the servers. It also monitors network connectivity of my DMZ server. All of this works great. My problem is the fact that I need to start monitoring NT services on my DMZ box. When I use custom services, NT services, and enter the IP of my DMZ machine, It cannot read the services running on that box. It has no problem reading the services on any of my domain boxes. I am assuming that it cannot read the services on the DMZ box, because it does not have Admin rights to that box. I cannot figure out a way to be able to monitor both my domains servers Services and my DMZ Box services from the same WUG server. Any Ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
