We (Co-operative Bank p.l.c.) are a UK based clearing bank and around 25% of our profit is generated through trading Government Bonds, Corporate Bonds, Futures and Foreign Exchange and through high volume money lending (or Cash Dealing). This environment is kept separate from the rest of the bank because the director of Treasury doesn't trust the outsourcing company used by the rest of the bank to run the Dealing Room systems (real-time news and price feeds, heavy duty technical analysis s/w, mission critical trading s/w e.t.c.) and so basically I get ownership of the most exciting IT environment in the whole company. I like to believe that it isn't just a coincidence that since I rolled out WUG our annual profits rose by 40%. Maybe, just maybe........................... I bought WUG and Denika in a bundle from Somix at a total cost of around $1,500 (incl. support, service agreements yadda yadda yadda......). The whole thing was configured, tested, rolled out and working within a couple of weeks and, in terms of reduced downtime in a Dealing Room environment has already more than paid for itself. I've got to ask. What's a Dealing Room? l Terry L. Kirkpatrick Information Services Group LOCKHEED MARTIN 3655 Tampa Rd.
