You need to have WUG version 8 or higher. It needs to be in the WUG web folder. In your web browser go to http://WUGserver/search.asp You should then get a list of search fields. Leave them empty and click on Search. It should list all of your devices on all of your loaded maps. From there make sure you are typing thing is correctly. Everything is case sensitive (that is how IPSwitch wrote the asp codes). Also the map field is looking at the map name not the map file name.
Hope this helps. Jeff, This is great! I haven't gotten it working yet, but this is almost exactly what I am looking for. Is there anything I need to modify in the code to get it to work? Currently when I do a search it says: WhatsUp Gold found 0 matching devices, on 0 maps I am assuming that I am not passing to the MAP variable correctly. I'm no asp programmer, but from looking through the code it should take the current url and append it to whatever I use in the map field, i.e. topology.wup I have tried a few different variations but have been unable to have the search locate the map. Do you have some basic instructions for me (even though your file says you don't) =) Thanks, Bryan -----Original Message----- From: Jeff Cook [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: November 18, 2003 8:07 PM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: RE: [WhatsUp Forum] web interface map filters??? I am sending you a copy of my search.asp file. It should do what you want. I use it to view all of my maps but only one device type. For example I can view all of my switches on one page, even if they are on 20 different maps. Hope This Helps. Hi, What we are looking to do is create a single map which will contain everything that needs to be monitored including switches, routers, servers, VDPs, etc. With this created, is it possible to create a filter for the web interface that will show only parts of the map; for instance, a filter that would only show servers or and nothing else. The reason I am asking is because we would like to make use of the dependencies feature, but don't want to re-create all the networking dependencies for each map we need. On top of this, making any changes in the network topology would mean updating each map instead of a single one. Hopefully I am explaining myself correctly, if not please reply, otherwise can someone point me in the right direction? I have spoken with technical support and they told me to look here.
