Hi all,

is it really nessacary to use an administrative account to receive
windows log events, or is there a possibility to set some user-specific
rights in the mmc-snapin for wmi?

Some trial-and-error settings with a regular user having some special
rights under wmi lead to an Access Denied Error:

-------------WhatsUp Debug Log:----------------
Windows Log: Could not connect to WMI at '10.100.3.5' WILL NOT RETRY DUE
TO Error 80070005: 'Zugriff verweigert'
CfgErr:Windows Log server was denied access to the remote host for
security reasons.
The event server (WinEvnt.exe) should be run under a Windows account
that has administrative access
to all systems you need to manage. If this is already true, you may
need to make
adjustments (access list changes) to the remote system to allow the
account access.Src:10.100.3.5 Item:Zugriff verweigert
--------------------------------------------------

Maybe the user just need something like "logon as batch job" ???

greetings,
marc
