Here's a workaround: We created some icons, saved them as <same-as-WuG-icon-name>.emf and overwrote the original ones. Works well. Another hint: have a look at the hosttype.ini, located in the whatsup directory. It contains all informations about device icons, their overlays and their grouping in the edit window.
Here's an example [Cisco WS-C3750G-24TS-E] BMPNAME=.\icons\switch.emf SCOUNT=0 NumberOfEvents=0 TYPE=0 DeviceCategory=Cisco OVERLAYTEXT=3750G ProtectFromDelete=true WCOUNT=0 MCOUNT=0 Our icons are located in the subfolder "icons" and we created a device category "cisco" in the gallery.ini [Gallery003] title=Cisco Devices hidden=FALSE items=Cisco Every cisco device got an overlay text as quick info about the hardware. We did this for servers (hp, ibm, fsc ...) as well. --marc -----Ursprngliche Nachricht----- Von: Michael Krygeris [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Gesendet: Dienstag, 27. You can modify the existing "container" or subnet ones to suit your needs though. ...Unless I'm wrong.... -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 26, 2004 4:51 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] New Container Device Type I'm trying to create a new device type with the same properties (will load another map) as the Subnet or Container types but using a different icon. I don't have any problems with creating the icon. I've tried making copies of both the container and subnet devices but my new copy doesn't give me the 'map name' field. I don't see anything to differentiate a 'container' device from a 'host' device from the menu Configure->Device Types->New dialog properties.
