Title: RE: [WhatsUp Forum] What'sUp Gold Pro
Since the new version has SQL integration, I would imagine that you could set up your own access system depending on the login and limit the viewable maps that way.

Is there a tag to alter the user maps?

I believe I saw this question a few days ago, but blew it off.  Now I see why it was asked.

That is a great concern for us as well.   Whats Up Gold web access by map is a feature we use all the time.   I do not have access to a trial copy of Pro but could it be that with the further improvements (I read about) with IIS integration, that map (file) access could be controlled entirely via IIS now?

Thanks,

I have been evaluating a copy of Whatsup Pro that was given out at a recent Ipswitch Seminar, and everything in the product is great with the exception of one problem, which for us will be an issue of staying with the current Whatsup Gold or move to another product.

In Whatsup Gold, you had the option when creating a user to give them Web Access, you could decide what maps to give them access to.  That feature is no longer available and from what I hear it may be included in the next update but who knows when.  This means that if a tech is assigned to a certain department, he or she would have to be given full access to all the maps or access to none, no middle ground.  This definitely is a tremendous disappointment, enough to cause us to start looking elsewhere.

In my option I read that Ipswitch will be coming out with an Enterprise Edition of Whatsup, which leads me to believe that the feature will be in that version and thus forcing up to upgrade to get a feature that was in WUG.  It is hard to believe that that this feature was accidentally overlooked.

I hope that Ipswitch is reading this and will do something about it before releasing the product.

I agree with Jeff Cook.

Now that we are voicing our concerns... I am sure Ipswitch is listening, as I believe they are always.

Remember, we are being offered a new product, and the new product is as changable as any package.

I believe the new product will be awesome and the best What's Up package to date, and will offer advantages over the older packages that have done their jobs well.  The day a magic wan arrives at our sites, we will have bigger concerns...a need for us.

So, Let's keep it positive and constructive.

We could have saved lots of internet traffic and time reading all these
snippets if they had just posted all of these details to the website.
Scant info on there....

I have seen massages about What'sUp Gold Professional, but I can't seem
to find it on the web site. Am I on crack? Or is it not out yet?
