This is a weird situation indeed, as Firefox seems to be about to ship this feature with an API that other implementors do not like, and I certainly think that we need to come to an agreement soon.
FWIW, for now I'm implementing your proposal that combines Worker and SharedWorker APIs, see e.g. <https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22203 > (I also think that SharedWorker doesn't deserve to have an interface of its own, but I'm not implementing shared workers yet anyway). I like that it doesn't tie Worker and MessagePort lifetimes too closely, which means that it has a higher chance of being paradox- free.
