JMX isn't part of core for 1.3, which was the version I had in mind when I made the comment. But even then, you would still have to provide a way to turn it off 'by hand'. You might not want to use the functionality of a module, but still need to include it because otherwise your app won't compile. For instance. The point is that you need an ultimate override. Eelco
