There has been over 10 years of Java development without generics. I
doubt that the introduction of generics makes the casts much unsafer
than the previous 10 years.
Sorry, but: Do you realy belive wroking without generics is as safe as
working with them?
There are serious reasons that Java has generics now.
If you don't understand that then it may be that you have missed
something fundamental about generics.
That is not what martijn was saying!
We have developed pretty good application from day 1 with java until the
latest version of 1.4.2 so not having generics wasn't a BIG problem in
all those years.
We are just as happy to go to generics as you. I would directly use
almost the fullset of the 1.5 features (except static imports that is
just ugly) if i could
But all my projects are still 1.4 based. And i think this will not
change this year.
