If my undestanding is correct the flow from the current example is such:
LogoutPage created
Page constructor adds the page to the pagemap
LogoutPage consturctor invalidates the session and thus clears the pagemap
LogoutPage constructor sets response page to itself
Wicket processes the response page and bails because there is no
session/pagemap

This seems to be logical and is a shortcommig of the approach used

With the link the invalidation of the session and the creating of the
"logout" page are switched so the page is in the pagemap when wicket tries
to process it.
