Thanks for the congratulations!
I try to build a component, which shows extendable content. It should be
similar to the tapestry PartialPrototype component
(http://tacos.mine.nu:8080/tacos-demo4/app?page=PartialPrototype&service=page).
So far I've got a WebMarkupContainer which can render its content for Ajax
(no Panel or Page). Will try to improve it and report you on my
expiriences.

I just managed to write my first little AJAX page. Nothing greate - I
just used the prototype Ajax.Updater to load a peace of text after
clicking on a span. After a bit of browsing the docs and source of
wicket it was thanks to ScriptaculousAjaxHandler not realy difficult.
Congratulations!
I still have some points and questions, which maybe could also help to
make an even better AJAX support.
Wicket support for Ajax is still in its infancy. We only provided the
handler, and included two different AJAX engines. We haven't had the
time to play with AJAX or come up with something good.
The current AJAX support is only based on our JavaScript support, and
the handler.
Though we think people can build really nice AJAX components and pages
with the current setup, we are going to think a lot harder on AJAX-y
stuff for 1.2.
In the mean time, I urge you and everybody else interested in AJAX
components and Wicket support to give feedback, ideas, etc, to make the
support the best out there.
