Yes, I can create a patch. It's a one-line change (well, two lines if you count changing the class imports).
(The code in question assumes the editor is a CompilationUnitEditor when in fact it suffices to assume an AbstractTextEditor. My guess is it was copied from some Eclipse documentation example and then modified.) I'd be happy to work on the plug-in.
