We don't recommend putting the Wicket servlet at /*, you can find it all over the mailinglist and on the WIKI. This is because the servlet then has to serve *ALL* things in the application context, provided you don't tweak the web.xml to do otherwise.
Apparently they serve a lot of static things from the root context.
