add a WebMarkupContainer and set the visibilty of the container to false,
In your Form add the container like this
WebMarkupContainer container = new WebMarkupContainer("container ")
add(container)
And in the HTML
<span wicket:id="container"><input type="text" name="ordinary text
box"></span>
I am not sure if this is what you want.
