Dear all,

A reminder that there are 3 days left (until the end of Sunday 24 May) to
apply for a scholarship for the upcoming regional research-themed
conference: Open Knowledge: Wikimedia & Research in the CEE Region
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Open_Knowledge:_Wikimedia_%26_Research_in_the_CEE_Region>
conference. The event is co-organised by Wikimedia Poland, Wikimedia
Ukraine, and the University of Silesia.

The conference will take place on 8-10 October in Katowice, Poland. It is
an opportunity for researchers and the Wikimedia community across the
Central and Eastern European region to come together (see
https://diff.wikimedia.org/2026/04/21/new-wikimedia-research-conference-in-the-cee-region/
). Programme will feature a mix of research and practical presentations,
panels, workshops and interactive sessions. There will be a chance to
exchange experiences and ideas, share examples of good practice, and to
explore practical ways of working together.

You can apply for a scholarship until 24 May:
https://forms.gle/zhfBQs5JPjzVg6FX7 (available for participants from the
Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Community)

You can submit a programme session until 30 June. Regular registration is
open until 24 August.

Link to register and submit abstracts:
https://openknowledge.systemcoffee.pl/

The conference languages will be English, Polish and Ukrainian, with
simultaneous interpretation. It will also be possible to participate online
in a large part of the programme.

If any of these applies:

   -

You are interested in what research and academic collaborations with the
   Wikimedia movement might look like
   -

You collaborate or wish to collaborate with researchers
   -

You are interested in current research related to Wikimedia, especially
   in the CEE Region
   -

You edit Wikidata and other Wikimedia projects, and are looking for new
   ideas
   -

You study, research or wish to research Wikipedia, Wikidata or other
topics related to Wikimedia or open knowledge

… this conference is for you!

You can email the organising team at [email protected] with
