Hi all,

I hope folks are enjoying Wikimania! Greetings from the Nigeria Summer
Institutes in Computational Social Science at Uyo, which I've been
supporting remotely this week!

I could swear that I saw an announcement earlier this year of a proposed
protocol that enables GenAI tools to link to Wikipedia pages and also
report back privacy-preserving impression data to the WMF. But I can't find
it - if this does exist and I didn't dream it up, can someone share it?

There are two reasons I'm curious about this:

   1. I'm hearing from scholars who are very interested to study this
question in different parts of the world, so if there are questions on the
WMF side about how to make this useful to researchers while preserving
privacy once it's available, I would be happy to support that.
   2. I'm having some super interesting conversations with Current AI / AI
Potluck <https://www.aipotluck.org/> who are making an open stack LLM,
from hardware to software. They are working with the Apertus model- I
imagine WMF and the community are already in conversation with them, but I
would be happy to make the connection.

All the best,
