Hello Brett,

unfortunately I am not able to join this cost action as, as you may have heard, this year one can be member of one call and one only (I am participating in a network about civic technology).

But I am very supportive of your goal, and you should hear from my younger colleagues soon!

Hello,

I want to clarify that anyone in the world can participate, but the funds
will first be distributed to European researchers, and only then
researchers from outside Europe.

Still, we would welcome your support, and also i think being a part of the
action is the best way to find out about what is happening, especially if
you could fund your own travel for instance.

Best,
Brett

Dear All,

Some of us are planning a COST Action <https://www.cost.eu/> application,
which is an EU networking grant, to support meetings, workshops, and
working groups over the next 4 years.

We currently have working groups about:

    - GLAMs
    - impact metrics
    - developing standard international teaching materials
    - increasing diversity on Wiki
    - Wiki-in-residence
    - Wiki and AI, and others

Basically we are trying to create spaces in Europe for Wiki Researchers to
meet, exchange, and plan future projects. The current draft of the
application is here
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1O9Kv0DqQyMXoNu8WOOreG5VmVE8Z8QNr0cg5qHrCrcY/edit?tab=t.0>.
we are open to all comments.

We are looking especially to support with funding young (under 40),
non-central, and minority participants, but essentially the more
co-authors and support for the proposal, the better. There is no
obligation to attend the events or do any work - the COST Action is
explicitly not about doing work, but presenting work.

We are meeting today at 4pm, here, <https://meet.google.com/bym-vjak-sdy>
if you want to hear more, or you can just reply to me, and I can invite you
through the COST platform, it is really simple to indicate support.

We would be happy to have you join us, and to support your work where
feasible.

These grants are for ~ 600,000 over 4 years, for meetings, but then result
in an average of 5 million euros for the network over the years, so it
would be really good I think.

Best, and thank you,
Brett Buttliere
