Semantic Forms does wonders for usability. SF does take a minor bit of
work to setup, creating forms that is. However, after that it works
brilliantly. #arraymap and #arraymaptemplate allow input to be in
formats such as comma separated lists, so data input is easier...
ie: I could have an | affiliations = key for an infobox. Accept
"Akatsuki, Kumogakure" and it could be rewritten to
"[[Affiliation::Akatsuki]], [[Affiliation::Kumogakure]]" meaning that
the semantic attributes are applied into the simple input. (This is far
cleaner than any use of multiple #explodes that you could do).
As for a good live example... Take a look at my own wiki...
http://wiki-tools.com/wiki/WikiVid
Inside the infobox try clicking on the edit infobox button. You get
pointed to an edit form for the infobox, which is actually transcluded
into the current page. It cuts down on cruft inside the code (stops
infobox templates from bumping page content down so you have to scroll
to edit), and makes the actual editing of infobox templates far easier.
All the inputs are sitting in front of you, and if you are only allowed
certain values, then you have nice data inputs for selecting one of them.
That's actually a kind of interface I would like to trial over on the
Narutopedia. Unfortunately, I can't even get the new Jutsu infoboxes
working without the least of input handling parserfunctions like
#arraymap (Though some of my WikiCode functions might make things easier
in the future).
You honestly don't need to be familiar with Semantic MediaWiki to use
it, only have someone who can create templates for you to use.
Oh... another one, Halo appears to have a mode for editing semantics
within a page. So that kind of thing might make actual use of SMW much
easier.

So it's about time I asked... how long until Wikia starts supporting
more semantic extensions?
I'm not sure that people know enough about how to use what we already
have to warrant prioritising the other parts of it yet.
Are the parts we don't yet have easier to use, or will they add
complication that might put off users who aren't yet familiar with
Semantic MediaWiki?
There hasn't been much progress on either of these wikis yet, even
though both of them have a lot of potential to be made much more
useful with these features.
