What's happened with ideas like the Wikia Blogs?

I'm mentioning more of the concept.
I thought about something today and had a good idea.

A lot of Animanga wiki don't get very much attention, and that's
especially true for new wiki. A primary thing that I thought of, is that
there is no feed or anything that people can watch and find out about
new things happening in Animanga wiki on Wikia. Despite having similar
communities, 99% of the Animanga wiki are separated. That means that
most users end up on only a few wiki, despite being interested in a
number of others. Primarily because they don't know about new ones.

I noticed that around the time of Angela's weekly mailing list
announcement about new wiki. To be quite honest, I don't think there are
very many members of the animanga communities that pay attention to the
wikia mailing list, other than a few like me and TTF. So I thought about
the idea of having a blog feed, and whenever I catch one of Angela's
announcements, going and making a more useful post about new Animanga
wiki, that the average animanga community member would actually have a
method of watching.

Around then I thought about the Wikia Blogs. So is Wikia working on any
other means of connecting communities together, or is anything
aggregated stuck offsite?
