Currently, translators can see the effects of some message changes at translatewiki.net at once. This is usually fine. For a minority of Extensions/messages you cannot, since the respective extensions are not available in translatewiki.net - in these instances testing messages and proofreading tends to be time consuming because you have to note the messages in question, wait for their deployment in he wikis, and then, when amended, possibly repeat this. The downside of this course of actions are some messages with errors, or little fit, remaining visible on public wikis for quite some time.
