Also, I tried this again in production (using the same, unprivileged account that yielded the unattached account on yowiki). This time I logged in over http, and visited: https://ru.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:RenameUser&oldusername=Rafy&newusername=Kathovo&reason=Reason http://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:RenameUser&oldusername=Rafy&newusername=Kathovo&reason=Reason Both links caused *attached* accounts to be created on ruwiki and zhwiki. However, there was a comment above about guwikisource, so I also tried https://gu.wikisource.org/w/index.php?title=Special:RenameUser&oldusername=Rafy&newusername=Kathovo&reason=Reason which produced another *unattached* account there.
