In the subsequent edit, the user tried to remove the space that was inserted by
VE, and not only was he not able to remove it, but VE actually added /another/
space:

I notice that in these 2 cases, as well as in the case reported in comment 1,
there's an adjacent colon. Dunno if it's related.
