Carl: Is there any proof that this issue really influences/blocks bug 52688?

"we'd urge you to carefully consider any changes you make, on this issue or any
other". I don't think that justifies "high priority" on this bug report, but in
the end it would be the (legal) responsibility of a person willing to merge a
potential patch.
