Summary: There is no user preference to automatically watch
                    talk pages edited.
           Product: MediaWiki
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: Normal
         Component: User preferences
        AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
        ReportedBy: beep...@gmail.com
                CC: agarr...@wikimedia.org

There should be a preference at "Special:Preferences" that allows a user to
have the "Watch this page" button automatically checked when editing discussion
pages similar to the "Add pages I create to my watchlist" preference. It would
also need to have talk pages edited through the API automatically watched if
the watchlist parameter is set to "preferences." This would be useful in the
case that one would like to know who replies to his comments.
