WONTFIX. With bare links, we don't know whether it's a genuine punctuation mark
in a sentence or a period as part of a link. I'm willing to be it's almost
always the former. As noted in the linked page, using single bracket links does
work, so a viable workaround exists for the (probably few) times you want to
include the period in the link itself.
