Having followed all recent publications about OpenID Connect I can say this: "I cannot transform the current extension OpenID into a version which supports OpenID Connect. If you want to go one, please look for a new maintainer." This is not a declaration of resignation, but I simply do not have the skills, and time to develop such a new extension.
