There is an emerging consensus to enable email notification of talk page
changes (with a default to off) on the English Wikipedia, per
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals)#You_have_new_messages
. The only concern that has been raised is whether it would make the servers
cry, but the sysadmin team is more qualified to answer this than anyone else.
