             Bug #: 29860
Summary: Ability to select a period and have diffs over that
period highlighted on the articles themselves, not
just in a side-by-side markup diff view
           Product: MediaWiki
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: Unprioritized
         Component: History/Diffs
        AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
        ReportedBy: m...@advancedcontrols.com.au
    Classification: Unclassified

To allow users to more quickly stay abreast of changes to an article
(particularly if it covers a developing topic), they should be able to view the
article page in a form that highlights any changes since a particular date,
rather than only being able to to view un-rendered side-by-side markup diffs.

There should be a time slider that allows a user to set the period of diffs
that are highlighted, with the slider defaulting to either the time of the
user's last visit to the article, or a reference point the user has set.

This feature would enhance Mediawiki's support for a "read-state", which is
particularly invaluable for wiki-journalism.
