These are supposed to be pretty fast but still produce "no response" sometimes. I'll try to see what else can be causing those. Individual requests that I am testing seem to be fine, but I wonder if it's possible that the request still occasionally uses the DB host with wrong index?
Not sure how's the logic behind that,and if they only use API hosts in db-codfw.php file, but maybe for some reason they are failing back to some main traffic hosts, and those still have the indexes.
I am going to go ahead now and leave s8 codfw exactly as eqiad is. In the meantime, if you can dig a bit more and try to find out which hosts are those...that'd be good.
