TASK DESCRIPTION Eclipse RDF4j <https://rdf4j.org> is Java API that separates the middle-ware of SPARQL endpoint hosting from the database. It has a number of inbuilt databases including ones build on Solr but also allows other backends to be used e.g. virtuoso. It might be a natural point to build some of the extensions that WDQS has provided in a way which is database agnostic. Benefit is that the Blazegraph code looks a lot like the RDF4j code in the query evaluation layer. Which means things like SERVICE endpoint "allow listing" should be relatively easy to migrate The query evaluation engine is used by apache Rya <https://rya.apache.org/> and Halyard <https://merck.github.io/Halyard/>. RDF4j also supports an early draft version of RDF-star which might make some queries easier to write in the future.
