I would point to one thing which is particulary interesting: if I remember correctly, when this error occurs, every Wikidata entry on the page is affected and every time the same Lua error message is displayed. That's why i think that the actual bug may not be hidden in Lua scripts, but rather somewhere in parsing/caching process.
I doubt it's parsing/caching, it could as easily be explained by initialization data not being populated correctly due to T166348, then every call hits the bad initialization data. I'm still hoping that this goes away once T171166 is done.

Highly unlikely. As I said above, this doesn't seem to be any sort of parser cache failure.
