Hi Everyone,

Sir John Daniel reflects and provides well-founded advice for the OER
university in his recent, Ernest Boyer Lecture: "*Revolutions in higher
education: **how many dimensions of openness?*" Sir John says:

"*Implicit in my own vision for the Open Educational Resource University is
that it is not an accredited institution, but rather an umbrella
organization for a network of participating institutions with longstanding
reputations and accreditation."*

*Full text of the lecture is available from the COL
website<http://www.col.org/resources/speeches/2011presentation/Pages/2011-03-23.aspx>.

Sir John's strategic advice is embedded in the foundational planning of the
OER university:

   - Quality assurance and institutional accreditation is the foundation
stone on which the OER university is being built.
   - The OER university is an innovation partnership of like-minded credible
institutions committed to creating pathways for OER learners to gain
academic credit through the formal education system.

2011 will be a quantum shift year for the mainstream adoption of OER.
