Hi Kaew, in the past years, this was not really an issue - the number of applications was rather small, and the most important outcome is that there is a team that covers the diverse qualities needed (you need some people who are good with tedious tasks, some more social people, some coordinator, someone more technical, someone good in PR, someone good in communication with countries etc.) and that can work well together. It is in part about chemistry :)
So in that way, it seems best to set it up like an endorsement process based on who commits to join the team from the past years (so far, that seems to be at least Karthik and Romaine). Just for the record: in the scenario that someone is not selected, this does not mean at all you're not competent! It might very well mean that they are looking for another set of skills (for example, it is very hard to find volunteers who can coordinate the technical processes and databases etc). I'm not in the team however, so I won't be making the decisions :) But this is how it happened in the past years, and it worked well.
