Hi, Having a set photowalk route might have a good return in terms of photos uploaded and particular locations covered. But I was wondering if arranging this as primarily a single rigid route and a single photowalk like apparently already done in five older editions, is focusing more on processes rather than orienting this towards end results.
In this regard, I was wondering if it might be interesting to experiment with the scheduled event primarily being a presentation and information meeting to spread the word and have sign-ups there for maybe some few at least 3 or 4 different routes (apart from a larger list of candidate locations) anchored by at least one person who has been with previous wikipedia community events for some time, apart from informing people that if they upload photos in the next few days from that larger list of locations already shared at the event page (publicised through press, facebook, etc through this meeting) and shared at the event announcement. Including with pointers to links on why uploading to wikipedia first, apart from facebook, is more critical, and guidelines on how to ensure successful wikipedia contribution of the photo. Then they would be eligible for more number of people picking up those photos as part of commons, apart from recognition from online community. I was trying to see whether some other cities might have tried this, in terms of being more goal-oriented or end result picture/article documented, and thought this might be interesting: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Takes_Ahmedabad In this regard then, we should go the other way and publicise the event rather than restrict it to a smaller grouping. (Even if at the cost of not providing any freebies/goodies, like lunch, water, etc... on any of the walks. Which can be mentioned explicitly in advance at the event page too, that people should carry on themselves in advance. Like when we go walking, exploring, anywhere else.)
