[Apologies for cross-posting]

In so much excitement, after successful iterations of the Months of African
Cinema global contest[1] for the past years, we are happy to announce that it
will be happening again this year, starting from October to November. In the
past editions of the contest, over 2,000 Wikimedia pages were created across
different Wikimedia projects (Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia commons) and in
more than 10 different languages.

The contest is organized by a Wikimedia project called “The Afrocine Project”
[2] , which is a Wikimedia project dedicated to improving the coverage of the
history, works, people, places, events, etc, that are associated with the
cinema, theatre and arts of Africa, African countries, the Caribbean, and the
diaspora.

If you would love to join us in organizing this exciting event, through the
coordination of local programmes around African cinema (independently or
otherwise) in your community or local language Wiki, kindly list your
organization or country as a participant on the organizer’s meta page.[3] If
you would need some funding to run your planned programmes, the Wikimedia
Foundation has a rapid grant programme in place for this purpose and the
AfroCine Project team would guide you through the application process.

If you have further questions, complaints, suggestions, etc., please reach out
to us personally or right here on the mailing list or the project talkpage.

Thank you!

Sam.
