Dear Wikimedia affiliates around the world, I am writing to you in my capacity as the *Wikimedian-in-Residence* at the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) to invite your community to participate in *Wiki Loves Peace 2026*, an international photography campaign dedicated to documenting peace heritage, memorials, museums, monuments, educational institutions, public art, and other places that embody the pursuit of peace.
As the campaign prepares to launch in just two days, we are already seeing encouraging interest from people across the movement. Members from *Wikimedia Thailand*, *Tyap Wikipedia User Group*, *Dhaka Wikimedia Community*, and *OFWA Tamale Wiki Hub* have signed up to participate. To members of those communities, thank you so much for your support and enthusiasm. I would be grateful if you could continue spreading the word within your networks and encouraging others to join. At the same time, I am hoping to see broader representation from Wikimedia communities around the world. If you are involved in the leadership, governance, or programmatic activities of a Wikimedia affiliate, I warmly encourage you to consider organizing a local Wiki Loves Peace event in your country or community. This can be as simple as a photo walk, an outreach session, a community meetup, or an online campaign encouraging contributors to document peace-related heritage on Wikimedia Commons. Within Wikimedia, we often talk about the importance of preserving and sharing the sum of all human knowledge. In much the same way, peace is humanity's collective effort. The stories, places, and heritage associated with peace deserve to be documented and made freely accessible for future generations. We are using the Wikimedia Event Registration tool to monitor participation and campaign analytics. At the moment, only 12 participants have registered. With the campaign beginning shortly, there is still much work to be done, and this is where your community can make a meaningful difference. I kindly ask for your support in helping preserve and document peace heritage through Wikimedia Commons. Whether by participating individually, organizing local activities, or simply sharing the campaign with your community, every contribution helps. Wiki Loves Peace: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Event:Wiki_Loves_Peace Thank you for your time, and I hope to see your community represented in Wiki Loves Peace 2026. Sincerely -- Raydann *Wikimedian-in-Residence* Central Library, IIT Delhi & United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs
