After introducing the basics of external grantmaking in our first session,
weโ€™re moving into one of the most practical parts of the process: finding
funding opportunities that actually fit your work.

STRENGTHEN Colloquium #2: Finding Opportunities and Mapping Strategic Outcomes
๐Ÿ“… October 2, 2026
โฐ 2:00โ€“3:30 p.m. UTC
๐Ÿ’ป Online

In this session, weโ€™ll focus on:
๐Ÿ”Ž Strategies for finding relevant external funding opportunities
๐Ÿ—๏ธ Developing keywords that make funding searches more productive
๐ŸŽฏ Matching Wikimedia projects with fundersโ€™ missions and priorities
๐Ÿ“ˆ Connecting project ideas to strategic outcomes that matter to funders
๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Building a personalized prospect list of potential funders

The goal is practical: leave with a clearer strategy for finding funding and a
starting list of potential funders to pursue.

This is the second session in our 9-part STRENGTHEN colloquium series, which is
designed to move participants step-by-step through the external grantmaking
process, from developing project ideas and identifying opportunities to
building partnerships, writing proposals, and managing grants.

Whether you're working with a Wikimedia affiliate, developing a research or
education project, organizing in your local community, or simply curious about
funding possibilities beyond the Wikimedia Foundation, we'd love to have you
join us.
