Hi all, As Ananya already mentioned that just like WLM India, we already have a plan to create a list of the Indian dishes. That might not materialise this year, but we already started to gather resources and work on it. However, we fully realize that this is almost impossible to complete all Indian dishes considering the huge diversity of Indian cuisines. We can't do it alone and we need all your help. It would be really helpful that you can all help us prepare the list, just you all did for WLM India.
Again, the food list will be fetched from Wikidata. So, if the Wikidata items of your local cuisine are improved, they will get reflected in the list automatically. The task is very simple - Create an item of a dish which is not there on Wikidata. If there is already an item, start improving it. - Add P361 <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P361> (part of) ==> local cuisine name [For example: Hyderabadi mutton biryani <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q105654208> ==> Hyderabadi cuisine <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5953998>.] This will help us make lists of dishes as per cuisines. - Add P186 <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P186> (material used) ==> All the ingredients used to prepare the meal. This will help us make lists of dishes as per major ingredients. - Add P18 <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P18> (image) if there is already an image on Wikimedia Commons. - Add P373 <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P373> (commons category) if there is already a category for that specific dish on Wikimedia Commons. There are lots of other works, but these are the basic steps needed to generate a list of dishes for now.
