Hello. I'd like to let you know that Wikimedia Deutschland’s Technical Wishes <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WMDE_Technical_Wishes> team is planning to deploy a new feature for sub-referencing. For many years, community members have requested <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WMDE_Technical_Wishes/Sub-referencing/History#Where_a_solution_to_this_problem_was_requested_%E2%80%93_examples> an easy way to re-use references with different details. Soon, there will be a MediaWiki solution for this, and it will work in wikitext and in Visual Editor. Please note that the new feature will be *optional* – if you prefer other ways of referencing, you can keep using them. However, you will probably encounter sub-references in articles written by others.
